Permissions & Use Cases​

To provide a seamless experience, Alfred requests the following permissions when integrating with Linear:

Issue Management​

  • createLinearIssue – Alfred can create new Linear issues for your team.
  • editLinearIssueDescription – Modify issue descriptions to refine scope and requirements.
  • addCommentToLinearIssue – Add comments to issues, keeping discussions in one place.

Team Coordination​

  • assignUserToLinearIssue – Assign the right person to an issue based on workload and expertise.
  • selectLinearTeam – Choose which Linear team Alfred should interact with.

Progress Tracking & Updates​

  • moveLinearIssueToState – Move issues through states (Backlog → In Progress → Done) automatically.
  • getLinearStates – Retrieve available workflow states to help manage issues effectively.
  • updateLinearIssuePriority – Adjust issue priorities using Linear's built-in priority values.
  • LINEAR_PRIORITY_VALUES – Utilize Linear's priority system to focus on what matters most.

Data Access​

  • getLinearIssue – Fetch issue details to provide summaries and updates in Slack.

Installation​

Alfred's Linear integration is set up during onboarding or via the Integrations Dashboard.

How to Connect​

  1. Go to the integrations page:
    app.alfred.sh/dashboard/integrations
  2. Click "Connect Linear" and authorize Alfred via OAuth.
  3. Select your Linear workspace and team.
  4. Start using Alfred to manage Linear issues effortlessly!

Once installed, Alfred helps you track progress, assign tasks, and keep projects moving—all without leaving Slack.
