Permissions & Scopes
Alfred requires specific GitHub permissions to provide its full functionality:
- Contents: Access repository contents, commits, branches, downloads, releases, and merges.
- Metadata: Search repositories, list collaborators, and access repository metadata.
- Pull Requests: Read and manage pull requests, comments, assignees, labels, milestones, and merges.
- Members: View organization members and teams.
- Webhooks: Listen for repository and organization events to keep Alfred up-to-date.
These permissions ensure that Alfred can provide the most accurate insights and automate workflows without disrupting your security policies.
Installation
You can install the Alfred GitHub app easily via our onboarding process or through the Alfred dashboard:

Go to the integrations page:
app.alfred.sh/dashboard/integrations -
Click "Connect GitHub" and authorize Alfred.

Select repositories you want Alfred to analyze.

Confirm permissions and finalize the setup.

Start receiving insights directly in Slack and your Alfred dashboard!
Once installed, Alfred will begin monitoring activity, summarizing key changes, and alerting you to potential risks—all without disrupting your workflow.
