Permissions & Use Cases​

Alfred requires the following Jira permissions to automate your workflow:

Issue Management​

  • createJiraIssue – Create new Jira issues directly from Slack.
  • editJiraIssueDescription – Modify issue descriptions to refine scope and clarity.
  • addCommentToJiraIssue – Add comments to tickets to keep discussions in one place.

Team Coordination​

  • assignUserToJiraIssue – Automatically assign issues based on workload and expertise.
  • selectJiraProject – Choose which Jira project Alfred should interact with.

Progress Tracking & Updates​

  • moveJiraIssueToState – Transition issues between states (To Do → In Progress → Done).
  • getJiraIssue – Fetch and display Jira issue details in Slack.
  • getJiraStates – Retrieve available workflow states to automate issue tracking.
  • updateJiraIssuePriority – Adjust issue priorities based on urgency and impact.

Data Access​

  • JIRA_PRIORITY_VALUES – Utilize Jira's priority levels (Low → Highest) to optimize workflows.

Installation​

Alfred’s Jira integration is set up during onboarding or via the Integrations Dashboard.

How to Connect​

  1. Go to the integrations page:
    app.alfred.sh/dashboard/integrations
  2. Click "Connect Jira" and enter your API key.
  3. Generate and enter your API key:
    To generate your API key, visit the Atlassian API Token page.
    The permissions associated with your API key will be inherited based on the user scope from which it was generated.
  4. Select your Jira workspace and projects.
  5. Start managing Jira issues with Alfred inside Slack!

Once connected, Alfred keeps your team in sync by providing real-time updates, tracking tasks, and managing workflows seamlessly.
